Before you export
Which mode should I choose?
Use Detail for colored logos, Vinyl or Laser for one-color closed outlines, Engrave for the middle of drawn strokes, and Text / Scan for dark text on unevenly lit paper. Photo creates flat-color artwork; it does not preserve photographic shading.
Will small text become editable?
Text is traced into shapes, not editable letters. Crop tightly around the relevant area and use a sharp, high-resolution source. A blurry screenshot cannot recover the original letter detail.
Does my image leave this device?
Tracing and cropping run in your browser. Only enabling Remove background in Photo mode sends the image to the background-removal service. This option requires a signed-in paid account.
How do I choose an export?
SVG is available in Preview with a watermark. Maker and Shop add clean SVG, PDF and EPS. DXF and preview G-code (.nc) are for outline modes (Vinyl, Laser, Engrave, Stencil, Stamp). Color artwork has no DXF/G-code. G-code is not CAM: set feeds, origin and Z on your controller. Shop processes up to 20 files in one batch.
Why is the SVG large?
Photos and textured backgrounds can create thousands of small paths. Crop out unused areas, lower the color count or try Reduce grain. Check small details after changing these settings.
How do I check the physical size?
Set the width in inches or millimeters before exporting. Height follows the traced area. Confirm the imported dimensions and paths in your design or machine software before using the file.
Can I lock colors to my vinyl or thread stock?
Yes. In color modes, enter a stock palette of hex colors (for example #000000, #e11d48). Fills snap to the nearest swatch when you press Enter or leave the field. Leave it blank for automatic colors.
What is the Machine check score?
In Vinyl, Laser, Engrave, Stencil and Stamp it is an advisory report: closed contours, tiny features, DXF-friendly segments and export width. It never blocks download. Always inspect the file in your cutter software and run a frame/test cut.
